Foods Causing EczemaIn order to determine the foods causing eczema, you need to do an elimination diet. To carry out this form of testing you would need to keep a food diary. An elimination diet first removes the suspect foods causing eczema, or food chemicals, in all their forms, from your diet. After a period of time, the food is re-introduced. If there has been an improvement and, on reintroduction of the food, the eczema returns, then you have identified one of the foods causing eczema. Before embarking on any form of food testing however, it is recommended that you first discuss this with your doctor and ask for their supervision. The most common foods causing eczema include: eggs; milk; acidic fruits; peanuts; seafood; wheat and soya. Common additives that cause eczema include: tartrazine, sodium benzoate, sodium glutamate and sodium metabisulphite. In families with history of allergy, foods causing eczema might include: artificial milk, egg, cocoa preparations (like chocolate), juices and wheat preparations. In cases where there is a strong family history of allergy to foods causing eczema, it may be advisable to avoid all foods other than breast milk until the age of 6 months. | Medical Causes of Eczema
